Welcome to the 2013 Football Season

  • Post category:Club

Welcome to the 2013 football season, one that promises to be a very exciting one for our great club and the game in our region.

As most of you will know, 2012 was a terrific year for our men’s and women’s senior teams who both won promotion to the Central League, the highest level of club football in New Zealand, and much planning has been going on behind the scenes to get ready for what will be a challenging season for both these sides. Our Junior Committee has also been working very hard as Junior registrations and trials are just getting into full swing. As always this is a very busy time for all those volunteers who help make our club what it is today, thanks for your ongoing commitment and support.

What is also very exiting is the opening of the Artificial Turf at Maidstone Park, which is now in operation.  The Upper Hutt City Council have invested $2.5m in this facility and it promises to be one of the best, if not the best facility in the Wellington Region for football.  As a result of this initiative, in late 2012 our club members ratified a proposal from the Executive Committee to move our primary clubrooms from Harcourt Park to the Pavilion at Maidstone Park. Phil Gorman is leading this initiative, and we hope to have our new home in place by later in March.

I hope you all like our new look website, and I look forward to seeing you around the grounds and up the clubrooms in 2013, and on behalf of the Executive Committee we look forward to your ongoing support this year, and as always please come forward if you can commit some volunteer time to helping us with the challenges that lie ahead, we certainly could do with more helpers!!

Yours in football

Peter Thomas

Chairman.
