Absolutely thrilled to see the number of girls taking part in the final week of Kelly Sports 5-A-Side Summer Soccer at Trentham Memorial Park on 22 March. The tournament has been running throughout the summer and it was just so encouraging to see so many girls enjoying the game in the “off-season”, playing both in girls only and mixed teams.
Our Upper Hutt City Football reporter popped along to see a fiercely contested final between Netherlands and Argentina. It was such a treat to see so many familiar faces in both teams, including up and coming UHCF Youth players Pippi and Rebecca, who have dedicated their time over the summer to coach and mentor Argentina, an all girls’ team. Netherlands won the game, typified by spectacular goalkeeping and gutsy young talent in both teams.
A huge thumbs up to teams, players, officials and spectators for a positive and enjoyable final to Summer Soccer!
