Women’s Prems – Week 2 Report

  • Post category:Women

We have accepted the opportunity of playing in the Premier League this season and so the challenge has been met head on. We are definitely benefiting from the mix of youth and experienced players and the combination is producing a great foundation for us to work upon.

We were eager to get the first game out of the way and learn where we were at. Vic Uni proved to be a difficult opponent for our opening game, and despite a 2-3 loss we were pleased with our efforts after a timid start.

Scorers Ellen Fibbes and Bex Stewart, with Caitlin Foster picking up MVP and the Pizza Voucher from our fantastic Sponsor at Pepe Pizza in Lower Hutt.

Last week saw us play away against Wgtn Utd in very windy conditions at Wakefield Park. Playing into the wind we defended admirably and went to half time with a 0-1 lead. After pushing some players further forward we went on to win comfortably 3-1.

Goals coming from Emma Lavery, Caitlin Foster and Bex Otte, MVP went to Maria Papp who led the rear-guard action very well.

Thanks to everyone who has turned out to come and support the team in our first games of the season.
