It didn’t get any easier for our Upper Hutt City Car Sales first team on Saturday with a game against Wairarapa; one of the favourites for the title this year.

For the casual spectator, it was an action-packed, fast-paced game on the slick astroturf surface – two penalties, two disallowed goals, a pretty horrible injury to a Wairarapa player (hope he’s OK) and a very late winner for the home team!  For the orange faithful, it was a nerve-wracking 90 minutes, with typical Upper Hutt grit and determination eventually the winner over the more fancied favourites.

Rhys Howe scored his first goal for the club (and what a cracker it was), Luis Corrales dazzled with his speed and skill, Wayne Rooker made a welcome return to the team and the experienced heads of Phil Patterson, Rodney Mays and Peter Howe earned the 3-2-1 points on the night, but it was a massive team effort from everyone on the pitch.
