Talent shining bright during summer of football for Upper Hutt Girls’ Squads

  • Post category:Women

Well done to all the girls who took part in Capital Football’s inaugural Girls’ Only Summer Football Leagues!  We’ve come to the end of our first summer season, which has run over Term 4 2012 and Term 1 2013, with Upper Hutt girls (and friends!) represented at U8, U10 and U12 grades.

Every Sunday, our teams took part in skills sessions and games with Petone FC, with every third week being a Fun Festival in Wellington against other regional based girls’ teams.

The Girls Only Summer League provided an opportunity for our girls to continue playing football throughout the summer with the aim of fun, welcoming new players to the sport and for many, to develop skills learnt midweek at Hutt Valley Representative training and Capital Football Skills sessions.  This new Girls’ Only Summer Football League proved a welcome addition to the growing football development opportunities now available for females with the added bonus of not having to travel far for regular games.

The growth amongst the players not to mention new friendships formed has provided a positive experience for the girls who are now extremely well prepared for their respective winter league teams.

We look forward to doing it all again next summer! Meanwhile, if you, or anyone you know, is interested in playing Girls Only Football, please contact:
