Ben Winters was recently diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumour. This is devastating news about one of our own. Ben’s dad was a founding member of Tararua and Ben has played since he was a junior. Ben’s dreadlocks were a familiar sight around our clubrooms and before losing them due to the chemo treatment, he recently shaved them off and donated the funds raised to local charity Fuel the Need. An incredibly selfless gesture!
Now Ben’s friends and family are organising an event with a little fundraising and a lot of fun and we’d encourage all our club members to get along and enjoy the night.

“The Ben Winters Shield is going to be held at the Upper Hutt Football Club Maidstone park on the 22nd July 5.30pm kick off. We have had some awesome people who have been working really hard on making this all happen. It’s going to be a amazing family friendly event. We all know Ben loves his home town and his football so there isn’t a better way to combine these things and create a event such as this. So pass the word on, share this around there will be raffles, auctions, spot prizes, food and most of all a amazing community coming together to raise money for Ben. A big thank you to all that have made this possible. Looking forward to a night no one will forget. ”
