For U9/U10, teams of around 9-10 are put together for the season and games are played with 7 on each side.

For U11/U12, teams of around 12-13 are put together for the season and games are played with 9 on each side.

Which team

If you want to know more about our approach to team and squad formation, please contact our Junior Captain, juniors@upperhuttcityfootball.org.nz

Preseason programme

The club hosts junior preseason training sessions (open to all of those from U9-U12 who are registered/registering for the upcoming season). These sessions, developed and designed by the club’s Director of Football and Junior and Youth Development Officers, include a mixture of skills sessions, small-sided games and larger-field games.

Dispensations

From 2022 Capital Football has expanded the scope for age-based dispensations by allowing more flexibility for clubs to allow kids play up or down ½ a grade based on a number of factors. If you are considering applying for a dispensation for your child, please contact your grade manager in the first instance.

Game rules

Check out the Capital Football Junior Regulations.

Gear

We supply the playing strips (tops or shirts) which are to be returned at the end of the season.

Players will need shin pads, boots, shorts and socks, Official UHCF socks and shorts can be purchased via footballcentral.co.nz.

Tournaments

There are a few tournaments throughout the season where we put forward teams from each grade. Tournaments are generally played on Sundays during the season and maybe a Saturday or Sunday when the season ends. Ask your coach or grade manager for more info.

Parent coaches

We have a number of parents and whanau volunteer each season to act as coaches or managers to look after a team throughout the season – and we’re always to keen to find some more. The role is far more about children than football. There’s a ready-made toolkit to work with and we always love coaches who are keen to let the kids’ imagination go crazy. Please let your grade manager know if you’re keen.

Cancellations

Cancellations will be made by Capital Football not later than first thing Saturday morning. You can always check the latest on the Capital Football website or Facebook for latest updates.

Latest news

Each grade has a parent Facebook group that is managed by the grade manager.  Also stay up to date with the latest on our club Facebook page.
